Having yearned for a Clavinova since their inception, I've at last bought one this week - a CVP-405. My first keyboard was a sturdy JVC portable with 8 very synthetic voices and the same number of styles. Next, I went for a Yamaha DSR-2000 - quite a mean machine in it's day (early 1980s), with facilities to create styles and FM voices. I experimented with MIDI, using an Atari ST, but found the jungle of cables a nightmare and inappropriate for the living room. I was later persuaded to buy a Roland KR4500, which was a nice machine for most of its residence with me, and I bought a second-hand Roland E20 that used the same style cards. All my past instruments are still around and in use locally, despite their antiquity.

I think this forum could be a useful one, as it looks as if it caters more for home enthusiasts than professional players, backed by an experienced trainer, so we shouldn't be overwhelmed with jargon. At the same time, I've had enough of tutorial books that tell me how many fingers I have on each hand, and some help in exploration of my new instrument will be welcome.
