Hi there !
I own a Tyros II - and love it !
I play along with my husband Carry, who is a trumpet player - and we both vocal. We never have a dull evening !
I have the tutorial for the Tyros II - and find it very helpful - that is if I'm not to lazy to listen !! We all want everything quick and fast don't we?
I have a question though - maybe somebody out there could help?
We do a few classical pieces and there are places in the music where you just slack down toward the end of a phrase - to pick it up again on the original tempo. How can I slack down ??
Thank you for your lovely web page - will be visiting regularly
Trudie.

Hi Trudie

Welcome to Simon Smith's Tutorial Hub Forum! Good to hear you are making great music with your Tyros 2. :)

There are a few different ways to achieve a rall effect.

If you were making a recording, you can specify the tempo accurately at any point in the song using the song creator feature. You can precisely specify the steps of the 'Rall' and 'a tempo' as required. However if you are playing a piece of music live, you would have to go about it in a different way.

Here are a few ways of achieving the result playing live:

You could set up 8 registration memories, 7 with progressively slower tempo speeds and one at normal tempo, then simply move from one to the other. This would work to a degree, but may result in a rall that is not smooth.

Another way to do it (if whilst playing you have a moment with one hand free) is to create just one registration memory with your desired 'a tempo', then whilst playing the song press 'tempo -' and then rotate the alpha wheel to gradually slow the tempo. When you wish to resume normal tempo, simply press the stored registration memory and your original tempo will be restored.

This last method is effective, but takes a bit of practice to get it 100%. If you do not have a hand free whilst playing to rotate the alpha dial, you can assign one of your footpedals to 'tap tempo'. At the point where you need the rall you can 'tap the tempo' (if you have a 4/4 style, you must tap four beats) using the footpedal and the tempo will change. The tap tempo adjusts the speed by assessing the time between each of the four taps (if 4/4). You could then tap the footpedal 4 more times etc.. with a longer distance between each tap and you'll achieve a rall effect. When you need to resume normal tempo, either press a registration memory on the panel where you previously stored a registration with the normal tempo or press another footpedal to recall the registration memory if using the registration sequence feature.

I hope this info is helpful for you.

Please let us know how you get on.

Kind regards

Simon
