Word 2007 is part of Microsoft's massive update to the flagship Office suite. In this version, Word is getting a fundamental overhaul, even to such basic user interface concepts as how menus and toolbars work. This is probably the most radical overhaul to Word since at least Word 6 for Windows back in the early 1990s. In some ways, the changes to this version of Word will be as fundamental as the change in Windows from 3.x to 95 that shook the computing world at the time. Even the most experienced Word users are going to find that the new user interface while increasing productivity in the long run will cause some short term issues during the learning curve.

The Word 2007 Bible also has a strong emphasis on Word's role with the other Office suite applications and in the role of document creation and management with server-based tools such as SharePoint.
